Female Leo still hasn't eaten in a week

ooohboy123 Apr 24, 2010 08:57 AM

Hey Everyone, lately my leopard gecko Wendy hasn't eaten in a week, the temperatures are 88-90 on the hot side, and about 72 on the cool side. She's housed in a 35 gallon aquarium with another female. The humidity is around 30. Does Anybody know what's wrong ? Please help I've tried feeding a lot but she doesn't seem interested at all.

your not necessarily doing anything wrong. Naturally geckos have to go off feeding for a while sometimes, and while it is not necessary in captivity sometimes it happens. They can easily go for a month or 2 without eating. Also ive noticed geckos about to lay eggs will sometimes go off feed right before, even if they are infertiles. I wouldnt worry about it at this point, just keep an eye on the way she acts and her weight. Make sure she has access to some calcium. If you notice any strange behavior or weightloss let us know. You may have to start force feeding her if she wont start eating again, it is really easy.

alright, thanks and i have calcium in the tank and im watching her carefully, it seems that she's lost a little bit of weight but not a whole lot, she seems to be drinking and walking around and stuff.

generally reptiles dont eat as much during the winter. So if you keep your house warm in the winter when you turn the ac on for the summer it could make them think its winter.

my female is shedding apparently :P but still hasn't eaten anything other than her shed skin, but they dont usually eat after or before they shed right?
