Longest Without Shed

Z_G_Reptiles Apr 28, 2010 09:06 AM

This little guy hatch in late June 09 and didnt start eating till middle of January. He started off only taking live but I got him switch to pre killed and now to F/T and he still hasnt given me his first shed yet. Here's a few shots I took of him lastnight.

Whats the longest you've had a baby go until the first shed?

Thanks
Zack

I have an 09 baby at a very similar age. She just had her first shed just a few weeks ago. It was a nice clean shed. I'm not so experienced with Bloods, getting there, but from what people tell me their first sheds can be variable and some can go quite a long time.

One thing I wondered is if you could "miss" the shed depending on what kind of substrate. My little girl's first shed was a small wadded up little pile of skin all wet on a wet part of the substrate next to the water bowel. I could have easily missed it if I wasn't looking closely. Just a thought.

They usually shed for the first time around 3-4 months old if they start eatting right away. He's on newspaper so I know he hasn't shed, I expect him to come into shed in the next few weeks as he's finally getting some size to him, some of his siblings have shed about 4 times already, fun to see how each one turns out after each shed.
