does anyone know what kind this is?

Belongs to a friend of mine, and I have no knowledge about turles.
I belive it to be a female, very short nails both front and back legs.

Could it be kept with a RES?

I don't have a lot of experience with this species. I believe the same basic sexing guidelines for most turtles apply to this species. A concave plastron and a longer tail with the vent placed further back indicate a male. A flat or convex plastron with the vent placed at the base of a shorter tail indicate a female. Comparing them to one another should be the easiest way to sex them.

Reeves are pretty easy to sex once they hit about 4inches. Males have concave plastrons meaning the bottom shell forms a slight c shape so male can fit on top of female shell. Males have a wider tail base, this species nips tails so it may be short for either gender. Females are larger than males.

Thank you!

This animal is about 8-9 inches, she is hughe.
A buddy of mine has 24 year old male and its about 1/3 of the size.
So I guess its a female.

Thank you all for all your help.
