i have two young female leopard geckos living together in a 15 gallon enclosure. I've had them on paper towels since i got them. they're eating mealworms and phoenix worms daily out of a shallow dish with a lid(with hole) and drinking from a similar shallow dish.
is it ok to put them on sand when they're so young if they can eat out of the dish?

I wouldn't reccommend putting them on sand. Thats great that they are eating out of dishes but that won't stop them from eating the sand. Wait til they are older before switching to sand, if you do decide to do it.

Yeah sand can impact them. I keep all of mine on paper towels.

We keep all of ours on paper towels or newspaper for older leos with a humid hide box on one end, and on the other end a water dish and a food bowl that we keep calcium in with mealies 24/7. We then about once a week or so dust the mealies with vitamins and feed them that way.

I would not suggest sand. It's very messy to work with and over time can smell quite bad. I like something easy like towels or newspaper that can be removed completely once or twice a week and replaced all fresh and clean.
