Rabbit Size; is it to big?

rottenweiler9 May 16, 2010 05:55 PM

Hello,

I have a 12-14ft male retic he is about 50-60lbs, I would guess. I was feeding him large rabbits that where 4-5 lbs every week or every other week and since he always seemed hungry I just bought some XL rabbits 7lbs. they look huge. I was thinking of feeding him one every three weeks. Thoughts? Is that to big for him.

Plus how do you handle when they are out of the blue and have not tried to feed while they where in shed. Do you feed them when they go clear, or do you wait until after they shed. I am thinking to wait until they shed, so that is what I did, even though it makes me nervous that I fed everyone else today. So thoughts on this would be great as well.

Thank you in advance.

Jeff

I'd just feed them and wait for the lump to go down and your snake to act hungry.

As far as feeding in/out of the blue; I just wait for them to shed and start thawing a rabbit (seems to take about 24 hours). I don't bother feeding while they're in the blue.

I wait until after the shed to feed.
