Ariz mt king temp, tank size ques

Ritas May 17, 2010 04:05 PM

Hello
I am looking at Arizona mt king and waiting for reptile show to arrive in next month.

I picked up a 30 long tank as enjoy giving them room with plans for larger tank in future but after reading several sites it seems the baby Arizona will do best in smaller enclosure such as 10 gallon tank?

Would also like to ask about cool area of tank as seems they prefer it bit cooler than most kings?

Any other info/suggestions would be great .

I have a 6 yr old corn so not new to snakes however seems the Ariz bit "trickier".

Thank you

Rita

It will probably be easier to micromanage the enclosure with the smaller ten gallon for now, if you are getting a baby one. I find it easier to watch over temperatures, humidity, etc with a smaller snake if they are in a smaller tank.

Pyros seem get stressed at higher temps. More then half the time, by baby pyro would be near the middle or the cool side of them tanks. I just use an undertank heater at the warm end and it gets the surface around 82-84F. The cool side is room temp.

Good luck! Pyros are awesome!
