Dumerils lying on her side ~

tektum May 23, 2010 10:30 AM

Can anyone suggest a reason why my female may be lying on her side (only occasionally ~ not all the time) aside from being gravid? the only contact she has had has been with a male Common Boa constrictor. The Dumerils is a little larger than five feet in length.
Thank you

Aside from some gravid behavior, possibly just temp. regulating. I've had some occassionally be almost completely upside down, but thinking about it, I haven't seen this behavior since getting rid of that rack system. At first sight, I honestly thought they were dead they were that rolled up. Still have all those animals though, so don't think you should be worried if nothing else seems wrong. I haven't had that rack system since 02' or 03'???

HI,My female has done this also. The first time I saw it I thought OH NO!-But nothing bad ever happened. She eats fine and seems perfectly fine, this was in the winter but temps in there were in the low 80s-81-82.I guess they just do it from time to time.So dont worry unless they start stareing at the celing. My female is about 7 feet.If anyone does know why they do it I'd love to hear it.thanks in advance jenni/
