Cool snake. How do you feed them ?
Unfortunately rare in Europe. Love the appearance of these snakes

I've toyed with doing Texas lyre's; they seem really neat. How hard are they to switch to mice? My field guide states they've been known to take mice in the wild, but that they prefer lizards...scenting work, or are they stubborn?

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.
6.6 African House snakes
3.2 reticulated pythons
.1 corn snake
4.2 Florida Kings
1.2 speckled kings
1.2 ball pythons
0.0.1 Argentine boa
I have 2 field collected adults..one took thawed mice immediately whereas the other takes washed mice scented w/a dab of lizard skin on the snout.

about what I'd figured...some will, some won't. I can't get to thier range this year (no PTO). And you don't see 'em on price list very much, so it'll be at least a year probably two. Neat guys though

The babies are a real pain to get to go. Only a few of the babies will eat defrosted scented pinks. Most won't even eat live
lizards. I've been told they will eat the trees lizards but don't have any close to where I live to try them.
The best way to keep them alive is to give them defrosted lizards
pushed back into there mouth until they realize its food then they will readily eat it the rest of the way. But if its alive and moves it freaks them out and they will reject it asap.
Eventually they get smart and start to take scented pinks and mice on there own it just takes alot of time and work.
I do find it very rewarding in the end to work with them.
One other thing interesting about the adults is they double clutch without ever breeding a second time.

Good to know as I got 7 eggs today! I didn't even know it was gravid! I flipped it in late March and only kept it 'cause I have a good friend who's been dying to work w/them. I flipped another one in May from a different locale. The gravid one must have copulated very soon before I flipped it as its been in a cage solo ever since. Bummer is they were laid in a pyramid in her water bowl but the top 3 didn't get wet. Time will tell as always.

Sweet!
If you pump her up with food she might just lay a second clutch on her own. Good luck
Those are pretty cool man!
