Hi, wlecome to the forum, There doesn't seem to be that many care sheets on chucks, and the ones there are are pretty much all the same, however I recently found not just a care sheet but a paper on chuckwallas and I printed it off, here is a link

http://www.uromastyx.org/comprehensive-care-sheet-t100.html

It's very interesting, I think it should be about all the info you could need. I found that this forum and others are about the best source of info you can get, I read through any posts that seemed relevant to me and if they were good I'd copy and then paste them on to my word processor and print them out. Hope that helps with the info.

I got all my chucks off pre-loved, My male Trevor was from someone who is about a couple of hours away from me and I had him collected and delivered by a reptile courier, and my other 5 were from a lady from cheshire, I'd driven to cheshire before and new it was closer. I picked Mable up, and the lady said at that point she was just thinking about selling her others, and then a week or two later I got a text saying she was selling all her others so I jumped at the chance as these are all captive and bred.

I need to post some pics of my latest chucks as I have been meaining to for a while, I'll try to get some put on over the weekend.

Kind regards
Martin

Hi, yeah thats her, infact funiely enough I've just wrote an e-mail to her letting her know how they are lol. Yeah it's a long story how I came to get the little ones too. But to cut a long story short I managed to get hold of the money for all of them just in the nick of time and she wanted to keep them together so thats how I got them.

I was thinking acctually, someone told me there was a chuck at a place called hull pets and gardens a couple of weeks ago, he said it was £150.00 now thats not too bad if it's captive bred but if it is wild caught it's a bit on the steap side, but you could perhaps negociate. Also the lady I purchased Trevor off said that one came up in her local pet shop called shirley aquatics for £100 I think, tel 01217441300, I don't have the tel no for the other but you'll find it online.

So if your lucky they might still have them. Sorry I didn't tell you before, It only accured to me after lol.
Hope that helps any how, let me know if you get them lol.
Kind regards
Martin

Just had another thought, try Warrington Exotics, as I recently saw an add of theirs on pre-loved saying they had chucks grown on in pairs or something, so they might have some left. I think thats them all lol, I'll let you know if I think of any where else, but I'm pretty sure thats it now lol.

Hopefully the one at hull is still there then. I think the guy said it was £150.00 which is a good price if it's captive bred but a bit steap if wild caught, in my opinion, although if you really want a chuck then they've got you by the you know whats lol as there aren't even that many wild caughts about, although you are looking in the right season so thats on your side. I started looking in jan and there was none to be found any where, it took a few months to get hold of my lot, I'm just lucky I was able to buy 5 in more or less one go, so that took the hastle out of it a bit. Good luck any how, I hope you find some more, I know what it's like to be in your position, as I was frustrated with searching for ages and getting no where but something will come up, look on pre-loved every day and when one comes up pounce on it lol, thats what I did, thats your best bet. I'll let you know if I hear or see of any more.

mainly looking for females but everywhere you ring there males if they have any,how many females can you keep with 1 male, i will keep checking preloved daily thanks

toffeeman Jun 06, 2010 03:09 AM

that shop in hull had sold the chuck last week it was a female but ive got another pair coming this week from warrington exotics

mart20 Jun 06, 2010 05:09 AM

Thats great well done, I forgot to mention warrington exotics, when I first started looking I used to call them once a week for a couple of months to see if they had any on their stock list. I gave up in the end and then as you know I got sorted with pre-loved.

I'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of females you can keep with one male, I know Tina had about 7 altoghether 1 male 6 females, I guess the larger the viv the more you can keep. One of the more experienced keepers on here might be able to tell you for sure.
