I need opinions of what kind of arboreal viper to start with. I am ready to make the move know the safety had experience with non hots. I cant seem to find what is the easiest kept as far as requirements go for arboreal viper species. Can anyone give input please.

Well,I am suprized no one has chimed in. White lipped tree vipers seem to tolerate a wide range of conditions and I would also include Borneo and flat nosed vipers among those relativly easy to keep. Eyelash viper would also fit in here too if they are established. As I hope you know, yearling snakes are less likely to get into trouble than newborns or hatchlings. Hydration is the ever important parameter but you can over due and keep them too damp and this is probably worse than too dry. Hope this helps, I am sure others will add their opinions.

I started with eyelashes. They are great little snakes. Not too hot to start with, stays small, and don't need a large enclosure. It can be tough at first to get them to eat regularly and some people don't like cutting up pinkies (babies start on pinkie parts and then move up to heads). A good old copperhead is probably a better choice for a first hot since antivenin is easily available if needed, but as far as arboreals go i like the eyelash.
