Painted Turtle Housing Companion

atldragons Jun 02, 2010 09:30 PM

I just purchased a Trio of Painteds for my fiance. I have all the essentials and probably went pver board... but better to be safe than sorry. I have yrs. of experience with beardies so the UVB/UVA and well temp. basking areas I am extremely aware of.

My main question is.... I wanted to add a fourth to the 3 in a 20 gallon long. What kind of turtle would get along with a painted??? I would like to stick with the breed but I want one for myself thats a bit flashier. Do they come in hypo??? I want a turtle that will be relivant in size, thats why I chose painteds b/c they are somewhat smaller.

Thanks for your help!

The red-bellied painteds are really cool. Also the peninsula cooters. There are tons of map turtles that look awesome and you could always go for an albino red eared slider or painted.

You want to add a fourth turtle to an already overcrowded 20-gallon tank? Too many in too small a space, even for babies.
