2010 Leucistics are here!!!!

PythonEugenics Jun 07, 2010 02:49 PM

2010 blue eyed leucistics burmese (ivories) are here!!! To my knowledge, still the only ones bred and hatched in the states to date. The group is doing excellent and will be at the Northwestern Berks Reptile Show in Hamburg PA on June 12th along with their hypo (het leucistic) siblings.

Awhile back on the forum I saw a few folks discussing how to tell a true hypo from a really light normal, and the eye of the hypo was discussed. Is this the accepted means to classify as hypo? If so are their pics someone could post of this hypo eye. I ask because in a local pet store there is snake that has a remarkably light pattern very much like the hypos I have seen for sale and posted but i havn't really got a chance to look it in the eye or know what to compare to if i did. btw its not for sale I'm just wondering if the owner really knows what they have or not.

This is the father of the first captive bred blue-eyed leucistics/ivories.

I'm hearing and seeing claims over and over again that Hypo and Platinum are the same trait and hopefully these pictures will help dispose of that notion. Please compare this to the next post of the Platinum eye. There are only a few people who have bred both morphs and know the difference between the two first hand. While there’s not an extreme difference in the eyes Hypo vs Platinum, you'll surely see a big difference in the coloration between them. You can’t tell me these are the same trait.

This is one of my platinums that I bred and hatched out in 2008. She's about 10ft now.
