is this worth it

I am thinking about buying this (or very similar) enclosure from this company for my new Ornate. The rock-effect background, with the little basking platforms, adds a lot to the price & I don't want to bother with it if he won't use it. Any opinions on whether a uro is likely to utilize the rock wall or not?

I wish I had a solid answer for you. Though Uro's aren't aboreal, I know that mine do love to climb and explore. Looks like a fun set up but depending on your Uro's, it may or may not be something they use. I have bandeds now and had malis before and I think both of those would have made use of it.

Wish I had more advice, sorry=)

Yes & no. Ornates like to climb & for sure would make use of the ledges IF the temps are correct on them. Two things I notice: the absence of a UV source & the distance from the basking light to a basking spot. Also, having the heat source so centered & high in the enclosure will make a proper lateral heat gradient impossible. Would make a great arboreal cage, though.

Thanks for the opinions!

I had the same thought re: basking spots -- the thing is they can cut holes for ceramic outlets wherever I want them so I could ask them to do the holes in more opportune places & get some near the higher legdes..

Just to keep the thought process rolling...
While Ornates will climb, they aren't vertically inclined lizards. Their temp gradient needs to be horizontal. Can you accomplish that in a tall cage?
Just trying to help,
Dan.

Not knowing how active your uro is, it's a hard ques to answer. One thing I would worry about is how the suction cups handle the 120 deg heat over time. If they dry out, they will become useless. I personally would feel much more confident with stacked slate, or some floor mounted climbing material.

Disregard my last. the pic I saw was not the one you were referring to. It was the on in the second post. Sorry.
