Hello All,
My boxie has been soaking almost non-stop for three days now. She's eating well, acting normal, and there have not been any significant environmental changes (I'm in the SF Bay Area). Any ideas what might be up? Thanks.

How long have you had her? What kind of housing?
Females that are going to lay eggs soon often soak excessively, and if you have an adult female, the time of year is about right (although they can nest other times too).
Injured or sick turtles also soak more, but if you do not see injury and she is behaving nomrally, she possibly has eggs. Of course if it is very hot, she may soak more also.
Those would be the three main reasons for this behavior.
sometimes they just do that.if the temps or humidity isn't quite how they like it,they'll either soak nonstop or bury themselves.i have a male that spends half his time in one of the water dishes, and my 4 yr old female is buried most of the time.but that'just the last week or so,the ambient humidity in the garage has dropped from 80% down to 65% since the rain stopped this weekend.hopefully i'll have a chance to finish my new and improved neighborhood kid-proof boxie pen this weekend, and move them back outside.

Looking forward to seeing pics of the new enclosure...
Temperature too hot or humidity too low. Not sufficient substrate to bury into.
