Coastal Carpet

footballsnake Jun 12, 2010 07:23 PM

I just picked up a coastal carpet python. I was told it's female and 18 months old. She doesn't hiss and seems to be tame. Eats FT rats with gusto. I just wanted a little advice from people with experience with these snakes. How big do they get? How's their temperment? I had an IJ carpet about 5 years ago. She was beautiful but nasty. That's why I got rid of her. Do coastals make nice display animals? It was an impulse buy so I want to make sure I'm doing things correctly. I have womas, balls, boas, and my latest a blackhead python. So please post any info, stories and of course pics. Thanks

Costals are the largest of the carpets. I have 6 foot females here, but they retain that slender build. From my experience here they also tend to be the most mild and even keeled snakes. You may get more info on the morelia forum here.
