Question for experienced Hybrid breeders

a153fish Jun 12, 2010 08:14 PM

How often do the snakes just mate with each other with out any coersing? I remember reading articles where breeders would use a similar species to get the snakes in heat then switch with another species. Is this the usual way it's done?

Hey Jorge, I have heard the males of some species will freely mate with females of other species without special tricks. Especially if closely related.

Well I hear that also but all the articles I remmber reading in years past says different. I remember reading that sometimes a group is placed with one female the same as the male with tape on her cloaca and the other female is put in the mood with a male of her species first to get her in heat. I am just very curious caue the few times I tried this years ago the snakes just wanted to run from each other, lol.
