I'm glad I found out it wasn't a rat snake! I almost hacked it up with a shovel!

I thought a brief explanation of the joke might be warranted.

The snake in the photo is NOT an Australian Brownsnake nor is it a Texas Ratsnake nor is it a Chicken Snake. Those answers were made as a joke in reference to the previous topic.

The snake is a Broad-banded Copperhead and is venomous.

Thought it might be worth explaining the joke because some people come here for information on snake identities.

Good point, just a bit of fun, I definately don't want to feel like I contributed to the demise of a harmless snake or the envenomation of someone who was given a false snake id.

That is clearly a chicken snake. Them chicken snakes are poison. Don't bother hacking it up with a shovel. Every piece will grow into a new snake. I figured you'd all know that by now.

It's really disturbing what you find when you type in "chicken snake" to Google images search.

And finally,
King snake fighting "chicken snake" lol
