Bloated TEGU HELP!

snakeeyes1618 Jun 21, 2010 06:49 AM

I have a 4 year old B&W Tegu. He hasnt pooped in awhile (2 weeks). He has labored breathing and seems very uncomfortable. He is housed outside here in central FL. Temps have been in and around 90's (air temps) he basks in the sun regularly. His diet has been grnd turkey mixed with mixed veggied and fruits and F/T mice and rats. (whatever my snakes dont eat).

I have been soaking him the past 2 days and all that i have gotten out of him was some pee. although today he seemed to fart or realease some gas (stinky). Should I just keep him on the routine of saokings? Is there something he might eat that would help this along? I read someplace pumkin? Please let me know

Thank you,

Scott

Do not feed pumpkin, it actully helps binds things and help with diahrea. Try some mineral oil along with fish, this normally will flush a tegus system. If he looks really uncomfortable it might be time to take him to a vet to get an x-ray to make sure there is not blockage or obstruction.

Try some papaya and bananas as well s soaking . Each time my guys eat that they go like they on a noni diet. I also give them that prior to hibernation. That way they are clean as a whistle prior to going down for the season
