Hypo/carmel albino

StevePerry Jun 26, 2010 02:56 PM

After quite a bit of discusion with other breaders with far more knowlege of morph genetic than I, the conclusion is that this animal is better described as a T+ albino or carmel albino. You can't tell in the photos but they all have a red Iris. The fact that the paradox is also visible also helped us come to this conclusion.

I would love to hear more input from some of you guys.

Cool. I have a couple snakes that I call 'carmel' albino..... hope to prove them out next year. I can never get photos that do them justice.

Either way (hypo/T plus albino), they are awesome snakes.

Here is my 'albino'...

Definitely looks different than yours. Might just fall within the 'normal' albino variation.

Awesome Kenyan, cant wait to get three!

I'm not sure what would be a technically appropriate term for a morph like that. I personally dont like the use of T-plus albino since you cant visually tell it apart from various grades of hypo. Afterall, T-plus might also be a valid term for hypos. For example hypos could have a perfectly normal tyrosinase gene but some other mutation that reduces melanin.

In the end it might just be semantics. I mean what is a T-plus albino anyway?

Best,
Vinny

Ok, noone is allowed to post pictures of new/cool snakes until I get my collection caught up. I've done a lot more adding than checking off on my want list lately.

Awesome snake!
