Ok so I have a trio of sulcatas that share the backyard with my two pittbulls.Lately I have found all three of them eating dog crap. Not just a few bites but the whole pile.Im trying to keep the piles picked up but..my question is do you guys think this is too much protein? They eat all day long, will this have negative effects? Thanks in advance Joe

I have heard of them doing this and yes it can have negative effects on them. I read once they do this in the wild for calcium. Also if your dogs are on a ivermectin heart worm treatment once a month, some does pass through there systems and into the fecal matter. ivermectin can be lethal to tortoises.

They can also get parisites this way. Cougherous or coferous is what its called. It can also make for some bumpy shell deformaties. I would section off the yard.
