2010 Patternless Yellow Anacondas

Ben_Renick Jul 08, 2010 04:09 PM

Here is a litter of Patternless x Patternless Yellow Anacondas. Over the last year I'm back to the drawing board on these guys. I bred a Patternless x Marble last season and got 0 Patternless and 0 Marbles, but around 63 Normal "Het. Patternless Pos. Het. Marble". I thought these guys were Dom/Co-Dom, but now I'm thinking that it works like the Green Burmese gene. We'll see, but either way, these things ROCK!!!!!

18 perfect little babies, no slugs. Some have the craziest almost Green Anaconda looking patterns and some have an extremely reduced look, love them both!

This litter had 18 babies, the Marble last year dropped 63 for me. Sadly, the Marble x Patternless litter were stillborn, the yolks were fully absorbed and babies fully formed, I'm guessing she held them in a few days too long.

Thanks!!!

Ben,
Interesting looking yellows. How large was the Marble that had the 63?

Thanks Kelly! The Marble is probably in the 9' range. She was just a very thick Anaconda (not so much anymore after that litter). I'm not really exactly sure what happened with that litter honestly, the babies were all stillborn in it which was very disappointing, but fully developed and yolks absorbed. The photo below was whenever she first started laying, she was still FULL of babies, once she was finished dropping that batch, she continued to drop 1-5 babies at a time randomly for the next 4 weeks or so.

.....Imagine how many babies she could have at 11ft!

I am wondering if the large number of young in that size female could have contributed to the stillbirth issue you experienced. I’ve heard of a few other cases where overly large litters for a female’s size has produced excessive numbers of stillborn neonates. However, I have experienced the issue of delayed release of ova with a couple of my female greens. They expelled a small number of unfertilized ova for several weeks after the birth of the young, but I did not see any full term neonates expelled during this period.

Hi Ben,

Sorry to hear about the still born yellows. I experienced a similar situation with my green last year. My female was relatively small (12 -12.5 feet). She dropped 23 still born babies and three live babies, so I can completely understand your disappointment. I had been in regular contact with Kelly at the time and he felt that she seemed overly large based on the photos that I posted here. I did not weigh the babies, but I can say that they were all large. Despite my disappointment I still feel very fortunate to have a outstanding green. She was off her game for a bit after she dropped the babies, but she is fully recovered (one year later) and completely on track. He last shed was a 20' full shed. She is just short of 13 feet now and weights about 130 pounds.

I'm attaching photos of when she was gravid.

Those have got to be some of the nicest yellows i've seen, congrats on such an awesome litter.
