I have two blues one who is now four years old and another who will be turning 1 this year. I've never had a problem with either of thier eye sights. My 4 yr old male has pretty good vision as i found out a few months back he say an escaped cricket agains the wall in the hallway and charged it he actully got it to and this was from about 20 feet away.
If you happen to have albinos, a year or two ago i had one and yes she had some vision problems. If you have a young tegu that seems to be missing food espcially moving food thats not too uncommon. Last problem i can think of is either not a great diet (ie cat food, it doesnt have enough vit A and can lead to eye problems) or the uvb is to high and can danmage the retinas.
Could it be something that popped up during inbreeding if the parents were line bred? Maybe just recessive traits linking together....just a thought.
What makes you think they are having vision issues?
they have trouble finding food, whether live or off tongs.

Interesting, but I don't really have much of a reply. If the are clutch mates and it is truly a vision problem, it sounds like it could be genetic or perhaps eye irritation caused by lighting such as coiled UVB lights.
My blue will be a year old soon and hasn't had any vision probelms. He's a super-aggro feeder. Maybe it is the lighting. I've heard Mercury Vapor bulbs can cause eye problems if they are too close or the animal is overexposed. Tegus being tegus tend to be buried most of the time, so I figure it probably isn't an issue, unless you don't have enough hides in the enclosure(s). I personally use MVBs in all of my cages and have never had any issues, but as I said, my animals hide for 18 hours a day.
