Panther, Veiled or Three-Horned

Kyleson Jul 16, 2010 06:17 PM

Hi sorry for the mixup, you see, as you well already know, I'm new to this forum and the chameleon world. My original post was titled "Panther, Veiled or Chameleon" and my question was supposed to be indeed about that. However, I kind of ran ahead of myself, got all excited and asked about food instead. Anyways, I once had a female Veiled Cham and did really well with her, but gave her away because I was moving too far. 5 years later, I'm interested in getting another one. I will soon be getting a 24*24*48 aluminum screen enclosure and will be setting it up accordingly. I am taking my time in creating it in order to have the best habitat for my future cham. My question is this...Other than the veiled Cham, which of the male counterparts is best to care for, for a begginer such as myself?

When you list "three-horned" I'm not sure what species you are talking about...Jackson's? Usambara three horned or deremensis?

Both of those species will need a much more humid setup and cooler temps with significant night time temp drop and very careful supplementation (montane species are much more sensitive to oversupplementation). If the climate in your area is dry or hot in summer that could be harder to deal with. For a beginner as you describe yourself I'd suggest the panther rather than the others.

Thank you for the reply, I was leaning towards the Panther chameleon after all. I have a pretty good start up kit set up now all I need to do is find myself a food supplier.
