Crotalus atrox morph genetics

anthonym Jul 22, 2010 01:44 PM

In the next week or so I will be acquiring a male melanistic albino (ivory?) atrox, as well as a female caramel albino. I have been doing a bit of searching, and can't seem to find any specific information on the morph genetics of C. atrox. Are the caramels just T albinos? Curious what I would get breeding these two together in the future. Could anyone with experience with atrox morphs break down some of the more common morph genetics for me? Much appreciation for any help! Thanks.

yes caramel albinos are t positive albinos....both of the melanistic lines have both t negative and t positive mixed in with them....i am not sure if the ivory albinos have also been mixed in....patternless and erytheristics have yet to be bred into the melanistics as of yet, that i know of....interesting patternless albinos have yet to hit the market...i have double het for patternless erytheristic that i should have bred this year, but guess there's next year....hope this helps as these are the genes i know are available for western diamondbacks

there is also a tangerine albino line that would go nicely in the patternless line, but don't think that one is mixed with the melanistics either....

almost forgot the scaleless, another not in the melanistic line yet....

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping to get and answers a lot of questions I had.
