Does a chondro always have a pre lay she prior depositing eggs. I have a gravid chondro that was shedding during her ovulation. Being that she does not shed that often will she definitely go through another shed cycle prior to this lay? She looks like she is going to burst and she isnt even opaque yet.

My understanding of it is that they do shed 15 to thirty days before laying the vast majority of the time. sounds to me like your girl might be a rare exception. My female shed 15 days before laying, and then 15 days after she laid just after eating her first meal. Two sheds within thirty days. That surprised me. I would look for a shed cycle with your girl, but dont expect one. Best of luck to ya. Hope you get lots of nice full eggs. Keep us updated!

Most often than not they'll got through a pre lay shed 14 to 21 days before laying. Some females will lay without the shed though. If you've seen ovulation you should expect eggs 40 to 45 days after. The female will get restless and search for a suitable nest site about a week prior so keep an eye out. It wont hurt to have a nest box in there so you might want to add one anyway. Good luck

She has'nt been very mobile lately but I remember from the last gravid chondro I had,the restlessness is obvious. I'll let you know what happens
