Snake ID please

ohernz Jul 30, 2010 10:16 PM

I live in S Florida and work for Miami-Dade County. These pictures are from a snake that another county inspector encountered in a rural area of the county. He said that the snake was at least 3 feet long. I know the pictures aren't very clear, but could anybody help ID it? I know it doesn't look like any native snake...actually it looks kind of like a black mamba...am I right (i hope not, we have enough trouble with the Everglades pythons)

Looks like your trying to post the picture from your email, its not going to work. Check out Kingsnakes "Photo tab" for a free place to upload your photo, then post a link here.

Thanks for the replies. I never saw the snake. My co-worker did., but he did say that it wasn't black, but greyish green

I was wondering if the photo was accurately colored or not, because that is what I thought I was seeing too. In that case, it was a very close relative of the Black Racer, the Everglades Racer (Coluber c. paludicola).
