Elevation and Wintering

Arkanis Aug 03, 2010 02:21 PM

I am wondering if specimens from lower elevations (1650) feet will generally have the same hiberation schedule as their higher elevation brethren? It seems to me that during most of the winter they could be out and about in warm valley areas (like sg valley) that never see snow?

Hubbs takes note to this idea in his "Mountain Kings" book. A disparity between lower elevation/"Warmer" areas would have snakes emerge earlier during the season then higher and colder elevations.
In terms of hibernation, I figure the weather would play a factor.
