Help getting em started (HELP!)

Ryan_Sikola Aug 12, 2010 11:04 PM

I have 3 holdbacks and only one will eat for me. The "leonis phases wont eat!

I've tried:

Live pinkies
Brained
Cut in half longways (worked on the others that eat)
Yolk dipped half-pinks
anole tail sections

Any other suggestions, they are still in the incubation closet that stays at 81-84 should I move them into a cooler room?

Save these two from death and being fed to a zonata!

try taking a F/T pink and washing it with soap to get all scent off of it. rinse it real good and then throw it in a deli cup with a couple spritzes of water. put the snake in the cup with it and put it somewhere dark (i use a shoebox). i keep them at room temp while doing this and have had good results.

actually, i had a couple that would only eat this way for a couple of months, but at least they were eating.

Thanks Brian,
I know that message was not originally intended for me, but I was having problems getting some newly hatched thayeri started as well. I tried your method on 9 babies that had previously refused everything I offered including scented pinkies. Your method so far has worked on 7 of the 9. Thanks again, Shane

you're welcome shane.

when i was originally told to try this i really doubted it working, but so far it's the best method i've seen to get non-eaters going.

glad to hear that it helped.
