St.Augustine or Gatorland?

MikeT Aug 14, 2010 09:29 AM

We'll be in Florida next week and want to visit one of the places. Any opinions as to what place is better? We're particularly interested in a range of animals, not just crocs.
Thanks for any opinion

St.Aug- really nice facility. My favorite FL croc spot. Good way to spend a few hours.

Hey Chris was down at the KY Rep Zoo 2 days ago. We were talking about crocs and they were pretty impressed with your heating system.

Did you hear about Jim getting tagged by a bothrops?

I had not heard about that, is he ok?

My heating system works but as for being impressed- lets just say it works. Thats all I am after on my end. Even with it winter stresses me out, heck, I'm stressed thinking about it!

Thanks Allot!

Both are very nice to visit.
At St. Augustine you will a larger selection of species. I have had good and bad experiences there.

Gatorland does not have the selection of St. Aug but I have always been treated very well and they have pretty equal amounts of shows. Gatorland has a more entertainging type show format where as St. Aug seems more educationally based.

Where you are staying will play a role as well. We usually stay in St. Augustine for a couple of days and hit the Farm while there. But to go to Gatorland from St. Augustine is a couple hour drive. Vice versa on staying in Orlando and driving to St Aug.

I think you will have a great time not matter which you attend.

Hand Down St. Augustine! I have visited both and will be making the annual Kingsnake visit on Friday. St. Augustine is one of my favorite places to go in Florida with no questions! If you happen to head up there on Friday and see a blond wandering in a kingsnake.com shirt say hi.
