Hi, what is the largest species of horned frog? Is it the "Giant Horned Frogs (Ceratophrys aurita)" or is there another species? Also, where could I find them for sale or a breeder? thanks

The largest species is C. aurita. The frog ranch has them available but only sells to dealers.

Unless things have changed in the last 15 years, there are no aurita in the US in zoo's or private collections. Brazil does not export and that is where they come from. I have seen preserved specimens at the Cal Academy of Science, and they are huge. A female was almost the size of a football.

Yes, things have changed. There is a breeding group of C. aurita in the U.S. though they haven't made their way to the general public yet (as far as I know).
