Been a Few Years-Any of The Old Ppl Here

accomplice Aug 22, 2010 06:04 PM

I used to have an alligator snapping turtle and post here a lot. I have a son now and want to get him a pink alligator snapping turtle hatchling to get him into the hobby. It seems like a lot of the folks who used to breed these are still around. Any folks who used to post back in 01-05 around still?

I have a plain old 5-6 yr old alligator snapper, as nature made most of them, who will not eat meats, pinkies, worms or whatever the heck vegetables they are supposed to take... He will only eat whatever comes by and takes the bait while he's angling. Healthy and semi alert (or so it seems, probably notices everything, but doesn't respond to much)... an enigma?, or relatively normal for these guys? I'm half expecting an appetite explosion in the next year or three.

By the way, I got this incredible specimen from John Richards. Voraciously ate guppies, then rosies till now when he is picky about the shiners he gets every 14 days or so. Baby bass (gotten by mistake in the last batch of shiners) seem to avoid the worm lure, but take pellets whilst swimming around the AST. Might wanna keep a couple as fiesty pets!
