Really thinking about a frilly ???

joann42 Aug 26, 2010 10:28 AM

So how is your frilled dragon? About how many insects do you go through a week for one?
Where would I get a good quality captive bred juvie??

I have an enclosure, I can get a uvb for it no problem. My main concern is the feeding, I hate crickets..Would they like being outside in summer? I have this big cage outside that is 8x4x4 would that be too big for an outdoor pen?

My other thought is an Aussie water dragon.Im not sure if I want to deal with all that water though...Does anyone have both and can compare the two???

My frilled dragon is about 2 and a half years old and now that he's an adult I go through about 150 a week give or take a couple. Kingsnake classifieds will often have some for sale as will faunaclassifieds and local reptile expos.

Crickets don't have to be fed. You can offer a variety of insects like roaches, silkworms, hornworms, phoenix worms (great for babies), superworms and locusts. Like almost all diurnal reptiles they love being outside but the key is to make sure it is in a fully mesh enclosure with areas of shade to retreat to. The size of your enclosure is fine.

I personally have no experience with the Aussie Water Dragons so I can't be of much help when comparing the two.
