Attacking but not eating

pbcrenshaw Aug 26, 2010 07:04 PM

I have a female B&W that is about 3ft long. I have had her for about 10 months now and she has never had any feeding issues. She will attack small rats and mice just as before but then just leave it and not eat it. Nothing has changed as far as I can tell. Any help will be appriciated.

Some B/W's are already beginning to slow down their eating to prepare for hibernation. However, your tegu has a live prey feeding response is to kill live feeders. Most people I know feed F/T for various reasons.

If temps are good, you have a quality UVB, and other aspects of husbandry are up to par, then it may be a slow down for the fall/winter ahead.

Yea it sounds like she is going to get ready to go down for the season. My female has cut down on her food and my male has stopped eating already. My other ones a juvie red and a red female juvie are getting ready to go down for the season already.
