Males typically run 10 to 12 feet if fed reasonably well and I have had a few in the past that were in the 12 to 14 feet range. However, it is not too unusual for smaller individual males to be between 8 and 10 feet as adults, especially if maintained on a light feeding regime. The largest male I have personally seen was one I saw in Bob Clarks collection in the late 1980's. It was a little over 17 feet and very heavily built, but I would not have called it fat. It probably weighed close to 150 lbs. Not to worry, as this was an extremely unusual individual, and probably close to the record size for a male burmese.

Just in case you needed/wanted more input I confirm what Kelly said. The only thing I have to add since you said, "Im just a little bit nervous as Ive never had anything bigger then 8ft ever." the snake's disposition is important. In situations like this your obvious honesty will keep you safer than your pride will. Kudos. (My wife scares me as I've never had anything over 5ft 3in before.)
Have a good one!

You're so funny, HH.
I took in a male Burm a few years ago and he was my first really big snake. He was 10yo, 11ft and underweight at 35lbs. He is much better living conditions and I feed what I think is a healthy moderate diet. He is now 12ft and 50 pounds. He could probably stand to gain another 10lbs, but he has chronic kidney disease from long-term dehydration in the past and it's hard to keep weight on him.
I have a male that is about 12 years old (I've had him for 10 years) and he's pretty big -- 13-14 feet, over 100 pounds. I cleaned his cage out this morning and noticed that he has grown some over the summer.
