The palm trees in my yard are dropping fruit. Is it OK for my leopards and redfoots to eat them? These are date and pinto palms.
If your date palm can be identified as Phoenix dactylifera or Phoenix reclinata then it should be edible. Most date palms if not all are edible. I dont know of any off hand that are specifically toxic. Pinto (maybe Pindo palm you mean?) Butia capitata also has edible fruits. I have seen bats, squirrel, raccoon and crows eating them locally. Getting them to eat it might be another story..
Thats just my point of view as a botanist...
