Hello guys, I had a questions for anyone who can help me. I was wondering if the temperaments of the Dwarf retics and burmese are the same as the normal ones? If anyone one can help me out that would be great.

I've loved every dwarf retic I've come in contact with. But dwarf burms (all the ones I've been around at least) have been... less than sweet.

I've had the pleasure of taking care of 2 super dwarf retics and 3 dwarf burms for a year now and love 'em. The super dwarf retics are incredibly sweet.

Two of the dwarf burms are captive-bred while the other is a captive-hatch. The CH is a bit flighty at times and will let you know when she wants to be left alone by hissing profusely, but has never bit me. The two CBs are a tad squirmy & skiddish at first, but sweet.

Later!

So, in your guys opinion would you recommend a super dwarf retic? I really like them better, but I know the temperament of the larger species.

My LTC SD's are a bit more skittish/flighty than my CB SD's but they aren't aggresive. I recomend them.

Depends on which you like better - retics or burms. A super dwarf retic isn't a substitute for a full-size burm. Nor is a dwarf burm a substitute for a full-size retic. (Don't roll your eyes. Ha! Ha! I just had to say that for clarification to anyone/everyone reading this.)

Let me put it this way: In my experience, a super dwarf retic's behavior/disposition is closer to a full-size retic than a dwarf burm's behavior/disposition is to a full-size burm. Not a whole lot closer, but some.

Take care!

as far as it goes...while dwarf retics can get rather large (12' for a female, maybe a bit more), a male SD isn't going to be a big animal; mine's busy tapping some tail ATM, and weighs in around 1100-1400 grams (fluctuates). There's kingsnakes that get close to that size. So even if they are testy it isn't as big a deal. Not like an angry 15' one that can really hurt ya.
