Potty train a Snake?!

LightElf Aug 31, 2010 06:03 PM

I know its possible 2 potty train snakes, why? bc I've noticed my macklots only goes to the bathroom in places that have waste or dust of some type there. He even holds it in for like weeks, and since his viv is really clean n has plantlife he wont go there. Anyway, he left my room and went into the bathroom, in there there's this plant soil and some dead leaves on the floor from a plant I repotted. He went to the bathroom on it! And I noticed when i was taking care of an iguana it did the same thing, you had 2 put waste stuff in a bowl and he'd go in it. So yea, any thoughts on this? I really believe it's possible to keep a snake in a room, it's what they really want you know.

I know what you are talking about but i suspect that this is more like territorial behavior and probably only occurs in male animals.
You might get them to go in the same place a couple times but they will eventually want to poo on new territory. And then how would you correct that behavior? Usually when you tell a snake "No" they respond with a resounding "Yes!!!" I wouldn't be surprised if you did it though but it would have to be a pretty unique individual.

i had two angolans for awhile - and they consistently went in their water bowls. i was convinced it was out of cleanliness to keep the mess off themselves and their crawling area clear and clean.
