stinkpot aquarium size

tengallonman Sep 05, 2010 05:00 PM

My son has two stinkpots which are about 1.5 years old and are somewhere in the range of 2.5 inches (not too good at measuring them). Anyway, they are in an aquarium which needs to be enlarged.

What is a general recommendation for a container and filtration which won't bankrupt me.

Thanks for any help.

I have about a 4 inch stripe-neck musk in a 20 gallon long with an under gravel filter. The filter I use has two air stone tubes, one in each corner. I feed the turtle in another container before I go to work and then clean it and put him back in his regular tank when I get home. It will last 2 to 3 months before cleaning.

A pair of Stinkpots can go in a 20 long & be ok. Any filter then can filter at least 40 gals for that size tank. These are less demanding turtles & can take a lot of rough conditions.
