Lose the sand and switch to all paper towels. Could be from scratched from the sand or maybe even the other gecko. Looks like it may be infected though. I would flush it out with warm water at least. Get it to a vet asap!

an eye cap, this is from not shedding properly. You can do a search on leopard geckos and eye caps and read about. I had one that had this and I used terrimycin(sp.) in her eye for a few days and it cleared up itself.

Sometimes if this is the problem, it can become severe and cause eye damage if not taken care of. I would at least look into it.

Hope the gecko feels better soon

i took on both geckos for a bit. the female is fine. the male had a good bit of retained shed and a very thin eye cap that was starting to form.

i added an extra moist hide to their tank and kept the humidity up. every night, i soaked him for 20 minutes, then rubbed each eye with a q tip. i force fed him crickets, mealworms and a small pinkie (i've had him since sunday. 1 week). rubbed ointment on each eye and put him to bed. tonight the last bit of eye cap came out. his eyes are clear and alert!

thanks for all the advice!
