Help. dont know how to identify my snapp

i caught a snapping turtle in my yard a couple days ago and i don't know whether or not he is a alligator snapping turtle or a common snapping turtle. He looks like a hatchling, mabye a week or two old. if anyone can help please do.

If you can post a picture, I'm sure anyone in here can tell you right away. They're verrrrry different looking at all stages of life. Also, what state do you live in? If it is an alligator snapper, and you found it outside, chances are you're not legally allowed to own it.
