Snake Skin in South Eastern CT ?

algansk Sep 22, 2010 08:04 PM

My friend from work and his son found this snake skin in their yard in south east Connecticut and they are very curious to ID. I thought it might be a Black Racer, however, I am no expert? It is approx. 28 inches long as is and dried out a bit.

Any ideas? Thanks everyone!!

It certainly is a Thamnophis (I can see the lighter cental stripe), but I can't tell from the photo if it is an Eastern Gartersnake or Eastern Ribbonsnake. It looks a bit heavy bodied for a Ribbonsnake so I would have to agree about it being an Eastern Gartersnake.
