I have two Leopards and I feel strongly that an L shape is best because it gives them more perimeter wall. Tortoises are edge walkers and the more length, the more interest for them.
I also think that 2 feet wide is a little two narrow. My 4 year old leopard is already 12" long, and my 7 year old is 16" long and coming to the end of a 2' wide path almost would make them have to back-up to turn around and I think they should be able to be easily be able to walk around and not have to stop and back-up.
I have an L shaped enclosure that is 3 feet wide and each leg is of the L is 7' long.
Best of luck,
Ben
