breeding temps

johnf123 Sep 24, 2010 03:06 PM

I would like to know if you lower your temps for breeding, do you lower them all at once or do you do it over a period of time? Also on what date do most of you start to lower temps? Thanks

I don't change my cage temps. However I alter light period and humidity levels.

Ok, how many hours of light do you allow, and what change do you make to the humidity? Do you make these changes the day you introduce the male, or earlier? thanks

I follow the lighting outside and my herp room has a digital timer on all the lighting to mimic the natural light pattern here in the Midwest. At the longest, I think the list is around 14-15hrs and the shortest around 9-10hrs. Humidity is only slightly increased, I do lots of water changes during the winter to keep up with the evaporation. I really only increase the water tub size for my girls. The boys, well, they don't need much stimulation....

Thank you Rich, do you suggest to stop feeding completely during breeding, and if so how long do you keep them off of food?

Some I feed throughout the season others go off feed.
