Children's Python Display

bast Sep 29, 2010 06:54 AM

I have a pair of Children's pythons. They are housed in the standard setups: shoe boxes. They are really cool snakes and I'd like to set them up in a large, naturalistic display. I know that this will be more work, but I want to be able to enjoy veiwing my snakes and their behaviors, not just hide them away so that they are easy to care for.

Does anyone else have such a setup?
I'd love to see some photos or hear about your Children's python vivaria.

Thank you,

Brian

Well, childrens are quite secretive. So if you have a "naturalistic" cage that affords hides, then the snakes will hide. It is not going to change their behavior unless you completely simulate their habitat, which is not easy in a small cage.

Naturalistic is for you. Not saying its wrong, but it is for you. A clean cage with a moist hide and other hides, proper temps and humidity is more important than if it looks natural. If you provide what is needed and it looks good (for you) then great!

One thing these snakes love is crevices. If you can make fake rock crevices and heat from the back, that would be awesome. They also like termite mounds, lol.
