That is a racer hatchling. They totally lose that tight blotched pattern as they mature into solid black. If you are in the southern United States, it is a Southern Black Racer(Coluber c. priapus). In the Northern range, they are (Coluber c. constrictor), even though they do not generally constrict their prey..LOL!

It will look like this when it matures.
