A Blast From The Past

LloydHeilbrunn Oct 03, 2010 09:49 PM

For My Mom's 80th birthday, I bought her a photoscanner to transfer some of her 100s of packets photos and boxes of slides to the computer.

As I was showing her how to use it today, this was in the first packet of photos I grabbed.I took this one with my Instamatic.

Miami Serpentarium Indigo 1971.

There is probably also a photo somewhere that my Dad took of me holding the snake, as I distinctly remember being the volunteer.

That is awesome man!. I also visited the Serpentarium many times in the very late 60's, early 70's, and was addicted to snakes since the impressionable tender age of 6 or 7(1966-67).

Here is a photo my aunt gave back to me a few years back of me and my older brother holding one of my awesome W/C southern Dade county Florida Indigo at my grandmother's house in Coral Gables in April of 1971 when I wasn't quite eleven years old yet. Hard to belive I kept snakes even years before this photo was taken..LOL!

The ol' boy(Bill Haast) was born in New Jersey in 1910, so he will be an incredible 100 years old here VERY shortly!!!

What an inspiration he was to this hobby, and will ALWAYS BE!. Thanks for posting that cool pic of the Indigo at his facility, and bringing back those wonderful fond memories for me again!

another pic of Bill and I taken around 1998 when I went to visit his facility in Punta Gorda, Florida.

a couple more of him, as well as his wife....

Awesome man! That's one of my biggest regrets. I Used take vacations every year to Miami and even lived there during the early 90's but I never got to see Haas, or the Serpentarium.
