adult females?

matt7465 Oct 05, 2010 07:36 PM

I have been trying to find an adult jcp with some nice color for a while now? Why are they such a rarity. I have a stellar male and cant stand the thought of him just sitting around with no girlfriend.

Honestly I never thought about it til you posted! I have picked up two adult males at decent prices from amazing lines recently, but I do not recall ever seeing females at shows. Perhaps reaching out to the breeders directly and see if they have some holdbacks...

It appears that there are more males then females around for sure. Im convinced that this occurs in nature too like in alligators or white tail deer. Male carpets are territorial and engage in violent sometimes bloody and even lethal combat. I think its natural that there are more males then females. Could be wrong but thats my humble opinion.

Hi,

I have been breeding jungles for 15 years and I would have to say that a real trophy adult female almost never makes to the open market. Most folks that have such animals are not willing to part with them for obvious reasons, especially as we head into the breeding season. Such animals are worth their weight in gold. I know that when I have a female that is developing into something special (usually 12-18 months of age) I ask between $500.00 - $750.00, on the rare occasion that I consider parting with such a special snake. In the very rare event that an adult trophy female comes to market, she can go for a few thousand dollars and is worth every penny in the hands of a skilled keeper. Good luck.

Will
