Any House snake enthusiasts out there?

shiningsnakes Oct 08, 2010 12:34 PM

New to the KS forums. Been working with the Lamprophis genus for a couple years now. I mainly keep the Dotteds (L. maculatus), albino Capes (L. capensis), and what I try to refer to as the "common" house snakes (L. fuliginosus).

Anyone else here keep housies?

I had a decent number of them over the past couple years, nice little small snakes for sure, babies grow fast and eat a lot. At least in my experience.

cool, dude. They're definitely voracious.

Man, I was just checking out your website. I didn't know some ringnecks get that large. What is their care like?

Some are easier than others to keep. Even the bigger ones don't really like being held, they just tolerate it more I guess. Ringnecks can be maintained in captivity as long as you can offer them exactly what they want to eat. And you can get larger ones on mice, I had a 24" northern ringneck snake that could take down fuzzies. And a buddy of mine had some small regal ringnecks less than a foot long that would take down day old pinky mice scented with snake/lizard.
