Striped Knobs anyone?

PnPreptiles Oct 08, 2010 06:01 PM

Is anyone out there working with the stripe line of Knobs that Troy Whitacre had or has? I have an adult pair but I havent seen anybody offering any or any other pics except of the fully striped male he had on a Pyro site. Mine are just partial striped and are finally breeding size and im going to attempt it this next season, wish me luck!!

I have never heard of a striped knob. Can you post pictures of yours?

I will try and gets some pics of my pair, they arent fully striped like the male that Troy had a pic posted on one of the Pyro sites, but they are partially striped and they are pretty cool looking! I wish I could remember which site I saw the pic of his male on, but he is the only fully striped one that exists was my understanding.

Hi

I picked up a pair of striped/partial striped animals from Ric Blair last year when he was selling off his collection. He said that he originally got these from Troy W. as well. I've seen Troy offer these "striped" animals a while back and did not hesitate to pick them up when they became available from Ric. My male is big enough to breed next season but the female still can use another year. Here's a pic of the partial striped male. I have not taken a pic of the female yet but she is a lot nicer with half of her body being striped and having 80% of the top of her head being red. Similar to what breeders describe as a "clown" head pattern. I'll post a pic when I get a good pic of this girl. I was also told that these are more of a line-bred trait and not a simple recessive trait so we'll see what my male can produce when bred to my unrelated high-sided and high-banded lines.

That stripe is awesome! Imagine a snake with just one big long stripe the length of its whole body!

It would look like a red and black and white garter snake!

Both of mine have the Clown face look to them! Mine are apposite yours, my male is the nicer of the 2, but your male has alot cleaner stripe then either of mine do! Mine arent near as clean, but my male doesnt have much of a normal look to him down his whole body, my female is very similar to this one here your have but the stripe isnt as clean!! There is a pic of a fully striped animal out there and he is super cool looking!! Hopefully all goes well with my pair this year because they are both up to size and ready to go!!

Good luck on the pair. Hope to see the pics of some nice striped babies from your pair next season. Keep us updated.
