Black Mangroves...

Potato_Snakes Oct 08, 2010 10:35 PM

Ok, so I'm curious if anyone knows anything about Black Mangroves. Specifically, are they just a color phase of the more common malaysian mangrove, or are they a different subspecies entirely? I have a female malaysian, she's been a pleasure to work with, but I'm thinking I'd like to find her a mate, and besides that, the Black Mangroves look incredible.

Gemmicinta as the other respondee noted. Born w/yellow and orange bands but fade to solid black usually by 2 years old. I have 2.2 and they are by far the most onery of the 3 ssp. of mangroves I keep. Smaller in size and girth as well.

My group is all over the board. My Melanota are of unknown age and are app' 7' and as girthy as a large Cribo. My largest Dendro-dendros are 5.5'. I also have 6 sub-adult DDs in the 3' range. All my Gemmicinta are in the 4' range.
